Next System Meeting Information:
Here are the details for the next System Information Session for Key Communicators and School Council Chairs. Please email me as soon as possible to confirm your attendance (and whether you are planning on attending in person, or through the webinar format).
When: Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Where: Sir Winston Churchill High School Theatre & broadcast through Elluminate (webinar). I will send out instructions and a link to the session soon.
Time: 7:00 p.m. - 8:45 p.m.
Topic: Personalized Learning in the CBE – In this meeting you will hear from and ask questions of a panel of principals and Dr. Ronna Mosher, Director, Curriculum & Design who will describe what personalization “looks like” in CBE Schools.
CBE in the News
Most of you have probably heard about CBE budget issues in the news recently. It is important for all parents to know that the budget is still under development and no final decisions have been made. The budget will be presented to the Board of Trustees at a public meeting on June 1, 2010. At that time, the Board will discuss how the CBE can best allocate funds for the coming year.

What could be more important than helping Calgary children achieve their highest personal potential? And what can you do about it?

The evening will include a lively and engaging debate between CBE students on the topic of mandatory voting and a panel discussion on why it’s important for Canadians to vote, featuring Licia Corbella, Editorial Page Editor, Calgary Herald and Vettivelu ( Nallai) Nallainayagam, Associate Professor, Mount Royal University. There will also be an opportunity to learn more about what it takes to be a trustee, tour the Boardroom and more.

School Council Development (SCD) provides workshops and resource materials to assist school councils.

CAPSC is Calgary’s city-wide, public school parent association.  CAPSC’s primary goal is to keep parents up to date and involved in their children’s education, and to help make individual school’s Parent Councils as effective as possible.  CAPSC provides parents with resources, learning and sharing opportunities.
