Focus Group Sessions for Parents of Grade 3 Students

Alberta School Councils’ Association (ASCA) is inviting feedback on the new Grade 3 Student Learning Assessments (SLA) for Alberta Education. 

Alberta Education is seeking parents of Grade 3 students who participated in the fall 2014 pilot administration of the SLA to participate in focus groups. 

The focus groups will be hosted by ASCA in an online platform with Blackboard Collaborate as a webinar format accessible through home computers, laptops or mobile devices. 

The primary purpose of the focus groups is to help inform the future reporting of the Grade 3 Student Learning Assessments. Sessions will include overview, background and administration information of the SLA pilot. A sample proposed parent report will be provided, with a request for feedback from parents about the proposed reports. 

Three dates in January have been scheduled for the one hour focus groups – January 13 (evening), January 15 (daytime) and January 20 (evening). 

A maximum of 25 parent registrants will be accepted for each session. Registration information will be available the first week in January on the ASCA website at www.albertaschoolcouncils.ca .

Trustee Byelection - Share your voice

On Oct. 3 Sheila Taylor resigned from her position as a trustee at the Calgary Board of Education (CBE). The Board of Trustees must now decide whether or not to hold a byelection to address the vacant seat for wards 11 and 13.

Trustees would like input from the public prior to making this decision. A brief survey has been developed to gather these thoughts and ideas.

Fun Lunch - Edo in place of Wok Box - Note to Parents

Dear Parents,

The vendor for the November, February and May fun lunches has been changed to Edo (130th Ave).  You may now login to Healthy Hunger and create orders for these months.

Please note that, if you did not cancel your Wok Box orders, your orders have been moved over to Edo.  Healthy Hunger has worked with Edo to offer the same menu items as Wok Box to facilitate this changeover.  The only exception is that anyone that ordered crispy chicken will receive grilled chicken instead. If you do not want the grilled chicken option please cancel your order before the order deadline.

Trickster - Starts Tomorrow - Volunteers Needed

Trickster begins tomorrow morning!

Traffic Safety Week and New Drop Zone

Thanks to everyone for another terrific Traffic Safety Week! Congratulations to the two winners of our Positive Pointers draw! 

Now that Traffic Safety Week has ended we would still encourage everyone to continue safe driving, parking, and pedestrian behaviours, especially with the winter months fast approaching.  

Please take special note that the No Parking zone in front of the school needs to be left free for buses at all times. 

If you are dropping or picking your children after the bell and would like to go in to the school please use the new drop zone located to the east side of the T-intersection, for easy access to this new feature please see the map below.
